Doha Bank has been honoured with"Golden Peacock Global Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance - 2016" at the London Global Convention in London recently.
The summit was hosted by The Institute of Directors, India, and held under the theme"Board's Evolving Role in an Uncertain Global Economy".
Dr R Seetharaman, Group CEO of Doha Bank, received the award from Stephen Haddrill, Chief Executive, Financial Reporting Council, UK; Baroness Sandip Verma, Global Chairperson-Advisory Council, Institute of Directors, India and Chairperson, European External Affairs Committee and Prakash P Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies - Europe, Hinduja Group Limited.
On receiving the award, Seetharaman said,"This award is a recognition for Doha Bank board for its active involvement in promoting excellence in corporate governance. It reviews and provide guidance about the alignment of corporate strategy with risk appetite and the internal risk management structure.
"The Bank is committed to adhering to and promoting good corporate governance at every level within the bank from the board of directors and senior management down to branch and divisional management and operational employees working throughout the organisation in Qatar and the other cross-border and international locations where the bank operates."
He also added,"In particular, the bank is committed to complying in full with its obligations under the various regulatory regimes applicable to it. It has in place a set of formal and rigorous policies designed to promote good corporate governance and prevent, detect and rectify any infringements. The excellence in corporate governance has contributed to sustainable development of Doha Bank."
