AN employee of Doha-based Omnix Real Estate Investment was brutally assaulted by a gang of miscreants in front of his wife and little daughter in Albania recently, according to a press release on Monday. The criminals also threatened to kill the victim if he did not abandon the real estate project and left the country immediately, the release stated.
The victim Fadi Mitri, a Lebanese-American, reportedly received several fractures in head, jaw, shoulders, knees and legs in the attack with baseball rods and will take at least a year to recover from it, according to the medical reports.
Following the incident, Omnix President Jamal Abu Issa, a Qatari citizen, issued a decision to cease all investments by his company in Albania with immediate effect and has sought a clarification from the Albanian government on the issue.
The company planned to invest $450 million in the Albanian market and create 1,200 jobs in the country. (TNN)
