THE Agricultural Research Department Director Masoud Jarallah al Marri has said that a number of projects have been launched in Qatar to achieve self-sufficiency in fodder production. Marri said that the cultivation of fodder plants in Dukhan area has been highly successful and can help Qatar meet the challenge of lack of arable land for growing fodder. Marri also announced a research to consider using palm residues such as palm fronds and the unused palm kernel to feed animals. In the area of aquaculture production, Marri pointed to the cooperation between the Agricultural Research Department and Fisheries Department on DNA profiling of fishes that are most in demand. (TNN)
