MAJOR-General Dr Abdullah Yusuf al Maal, adviser to the Minister of Interior (MoI), is leading the Qatari delegation to the eighth session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime being held in Austrian capital, Vienna.
The conference, which opened on Monday, will continue until October 21, 2016.
Speaking at the high-level opening session on Monday, Maal stressed Qatar's keenness in achieving the objective of the Conference of the Parties, which is to improve the capacity of Party States to combat transnational organised crime and promote the implementation of the agreements and review them.
He shed light on the Doha Declaration released at the 13th UN Congress on Criminal Justice and Crime Prevention, hosted by Doha last year, which reflected the efforts of Qatar to address transnational organised crime and related crimes such as terrorism, and establish effective, equitable, humane and accountable criminal justice systems.
