THE first round of negotiations for comprehensive aviation agreement between the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar and the European Commission concluded in Doha on Wednesday.
The negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive air transport agreement to regulate aspects of air services and the rights of air transport between Qatar and the EU member states.
The Qatari side was chaired by the Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority HE Abdulla bin Nasser Turki al Subaey and attended by Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways Group Akbar al Baker.
From the European side, it was attended by the head of the International Transport Affairs department at the European Commission Carlos Acosta.
The two sides reviewed, during the meetings hosted by Doha over the past three days, the provisions of the proposed comprehensive agreement and also discussed them in detail to reach a common understanding.
They agreed on the need to complete the negotiations in the subsequent phases of the negotiations to finalise the comprehensive air services agreement between the State of Qatar and the European Union.
