THE University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) recently welcomed its new batch of gold-standard Bachelor of Nursing Programs (BN) students to its campus in Al Rayyan.
Nearly two thirds of the incoming students are Qatari nationals or were born in Qatar in line with the University's commitment to educate the country's future nursing leaders.
Preparations for the start of the academic year kicked off with UCQ's New Student Orientation which took place on August 24 and 25. There, students from BN programmes met with professors, administrators and peer mentors.
The incoming class also toured UCQ's state-of-the-art facilities, including the Learning Commons, a resource hub for students, and the Clinical Simulation Centre, where students practice patient care in a simulated hospital environment.
"Our new students chose UCQ's nursing education because they are passionate about improving lives and strengthening patient care here in Qatar," noted Dr Deborah White, dean and CEO of UCQ."In the years to come, our mission as nursing educators is to equip these students with the knowledge and skills they'll need to deliver world-class health care in Qatar. We strive to ensure that every student is prepared to excel professionally, as well as provide for the well-being of their family and community."
