Qatar is all set to introduce a new app that allows people to check whether they have been at risk of catching the coronavirus.
Supreme Committee for Crisis Management Spokesperson HE Lolwah al Khater said the app would be available on Android and iOS platforms soon and called on everyone in Qatar to download the app when it is launched.
Known as Ehteraz, the app interacts with the users in four colours — green means the user is healthy, grey indicates the user may have come in contact with an infected person, yellow means the user is or was in quarantine and red means he or she is infected by the virus.
According to Khater, the app is able to make these distinctions as it is linked to a huge COVID-19 database set up by the country. The increased use of the app will also help authorities to easily track people who have come in contact with a person infected by the virus, she said.
If a person using the app is tested positive, it will alert all of his or her contacts who have downloaded the app.
