Cairo Oman on Wednesday said it would shut down its capital Muscat in an effort to curb an outbreak of the new coronavirus in the country.
The lockdown will take effect as of Friday and continue until April 22, the official news agency ONA reported. The measure was ordered by a state committee in charge of drawing up Oman’s response to the rapid-spreading virus, the report said.
Health authorities on Wednesday confirmed 48 further cases of the virus, bringing to 419 the total number of infections in the country of around 4.6 million. (DPA)
