The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has completed the development works on a road and an intersection within the Road Improvement Works in Al Rayyan Area — Phase 5 Project, and both are now fully open to traffic. The recent upgrade will help facilitate access to the Al-Sailiya Central Market.
Head of Western Areas Section in the Roads Projects Department Eng Fahd Mohamed al Otaibi said the recently completed works under this project include construction of a new signalised junction at Al-Sailiya Road that connects it to the 2.1 km-long newly constructed street leading to Al-Sailiya Central Markets truck parking.
In addition, the improvement works involved a 2.3 km section of Al-Sailiya Road which links the new traffic signal to Al-Majd Road to provide commuters access to the market via the exit located at Al-Sailiya Road.
This opening also coincides with the opening of Al Sailiyya Central Market, as the new road and junction will serve the market visitors and more than 200 commercial outlets.
As part of the Road Improvement Works in Rayyan Area — Phase 5 Project, Ashghal finished the construction of 2.2 km of roads to serve and connect the local sewerage plant with Al-Sailiya main road, where the traffic density for tankers is estimated to be around 2,500-3,000 tankers per day.
Project works also involved the construction of a two-lane road and storm water drainage, while street lighting works are currently under way.
