Moscow Russia has called for the lifting of sanctions on all nations in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that many nations are continuing to adhere to sanctions “although this brings people in the most vulnerable countries to the brink.” Moscow urged United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres to work to lift “discriminatory measures” in this emergency situation. At the end of March, Russia, China, Syria, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba had already sent a letter to Guterres calling for an immediate and complete lifting of sanctions imposed on them by various nations.
