The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), in cooperation with Katara Qatari Farmers’ Forum, and Qatar Red Crescent Society, has launched an initiative to distribute five tonnes of vegetables every day to those in need in Qatar.
Katara General Manager Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti said the work mechanisms and distribution of the items would be carried out in cooperation with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).
People in need can make their requests by calling 55470558 and 55449862.
Sulaiti said, “This campaign comes within a series of charitable and community initiatives and campaigns launched by Katara previously on many occasions, both inside and outside Qatar.”
He stressed that through these charitable initiatives and campaigns, Katara works to spread the culture of cooperation and solidarity among various members of society and activate the role of the various entities of a social, cultural, economic or charitable nature.
He said this current campaign represents the best evidence of various efforts to enhance social solidarity and support the state’s efforts for the needy group.
Professor Mona al Sulaiti, executive director of the Volunteer and Local Development Sector of QRCS, said the Qatari Red Crescent Society volunteers are participating in distributing the assistance provided by Qatari
farmers through the Katara Qatari Farmers’ Forum to ensure that they reach all places in Qatar.
Ahmed al Khulaifi, head of volunteers at QRCS, said: “This campaign is not the first in which we cooperate with Katara. We are happy to participate in this initiative with Katara and Katara Qatari Farmers’ Forum, after the trucks sent from the Qatari farms arrived in Katara on Saturday. We felt great enthusiasm from the volunteers, desiring to provide added support to our beloved homeland.”
Hussein al Buhulaiqah, director of Youth Activities at Al-Ahly Sports Club, said: “We thank Katara and Katara Qatari Farmers’ Forum and the Qatari Red Crescent Society for these efforts made to support voluntary charitable work in the community. We encourage our club members to participate in the initiative.”
Ali Ahmed al Kaabi, owner of the International Farm, who participated in the campaign, said Qatari farmers always support the Qatari community.
Ali Noah al Mutawa, owner of Al-Reem Farm, said: “We support the government’s efforts to provide for the needy group to limit the spread of the coronavirus.”
He thanked Katara for all the efforts contributing to this campaign.
