The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the student evaluation policy for the end of the second semester exams of the 2019-20 academic year for the distance learning system, from grades 1 to grade 11 (day schools).
In a circular, the ministry said this policy comes on the basis of the decision for day school students to resume studies with a distance learning system.
The ministry said it was decided that the marks allocated to the end of the second semester of day schools will be dealt with according to the distance learning system as follows:
First: Grades from 1-3
1. The marks assigned to the ongoing evaluation for the second half of the second semester for the period after the midterm of the second semester test is calculated as follows:
Schools calculate the same marks that a student obtained in the ongoing assessment in the first half of the second semester.
Schools monitor grades in the NSIS system.
2. The end of the second semester test (the main test):
• The test is a weekly assignment that will be given to the student at the end of each week through distance learning system.
• The number of assignments will be six, one assignment per week for each subject.
• Each assignment carries 5 marks.
• The student must do this assignment by (copy the answer if it was written, or recording an audio clip for reading aloud, or reciting).
• The student sends the weekly homework answers to the teacher in the school through the distance learning system using the Microsoft Teams application.
• The period limit for the student to answer the weekly assignment is five days from the date of the assignment on the distance learning platform in the Microsoft Teams system.
• The teacher corrects the weekly assignment and monitors the marks obtained by the student according to the form attached.
3 The subjects that will not be covered by the distance learning system, as follows:
• Grade 1: Information Technology, Physical education.
• Grade 2: Information Technology, Physical Education, Arts.
• Grade 3: Physical Education, Arts.
• These subjects are not counted in the total mark.
Second: Grades from four to eleven:
1- The mark the work of the class is 5 grades:
The subject teacher evaluates the student’s marks according to hisher follow-up to the student’s activity and effectiveness in terms of (short assessments, assignments, training, classroom participation, project) during the student’s attendance in the second semester, and also through his follow-up to the extent of the student’s participation and effectiveness in the distance learning system, the teacher monitors the student’s score in the NSIS system.
2- The marks allocated to the end of the second semester test is 40 marks.
• The exam for the end of the second semester is a weekly test that will be given to the student at the end of each week through the distance learning system for each subject.
• The number of test that will be given to the student is six tests, one per week for each subject.
• The mark allocated to a test is 10 marks.
• The student must solve this weekly test through the distance learning system using the Microsoft Teams application.
• The teacher corrects the weekly test and monitors the degree obtained by the student according to the attached form.
• The teacher collects the student’s grades in all tests and monitors them in the NSIS system according to the system adopted in the monitoring of grades.
• The time limit for the student to solve the weekly tests is within five days from the date of the test on the distance learning platform in Microsoft Teams system.
• After all teachers finish monitoring grades for all students, schools calculate the result and issue certificates according to the approved system in this regard.
3 -- The subjects that have a test (written, oral, practical) their full mark is calculated on the weekly test through the distance learning system.
4- The subjects that will not be covered by the distance learning system, as follows:
• Grades four to nine: Arts, Physical Education
• Grades 10 and 11: Physical Education, arts, Life and Research Skills
• These subjects are not counted in the total score.
Third: Students with disabilities in general education schools.
They are dealt with according to the following:
A- Students of the first and second level of support:
These students apply the same assessment procedures according to the distance learning system referred to above for grades one-eleven.
B- Students of the third level of support:
These students are limited to the daily evaluation of the daily lessons questions that will be asked through the distance learning system for the first to eleventh grades.
The student must answer the questions for each lesson on a daily basis for each subject.
The mark assigned to daily questions in each subject is collected at the end of the week, so that it is (10 marks) for each subject.
The teacher corrects the daily assessment and monitors the mark obtained by the student.
After monitoring the marks, schools will calculate the result and issue certificates according to the approved system in this regard.
