Dhaka Authorities in Bangladesh have extended a nationwide transport shut-down for a week as the number of novel coronavirus cases rose to 70, officials said on Saturday.
The restriction on all modes of transport carrying passengers will be in effect until April 11, said Abu Naser, spokesman for the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry.
Vehicles transporting goods and other emergency services will remain out of the purview of this stoppage, he said.
The extension of travel restrictions came in line with the government’s decision to shut non-essential public and private offices until April 11 in a bid to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus that has infected 70 people in Bangladesh. (DPA)
