Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) is in talks with a good number of companies that are serious about getting listed on the local bourse, the exchange’s listing director has said.
“Good number of local companies is in the pipeline to get listed on QSE. The files are at different stages of listing process. The listing process takes more than a year from the date of submission of the files. Some of the files are at advanced stages of listing process. As soon as they are ready, we are all prepared to welcome them on the exchange,” Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) Listing Director Abdul Aziz al Emadi told Qatar Tribune.
A number of family businesses in Qatar have shown growing interests to turn their companies into public shareholding entities, Emadi said, adding the discussions with some of these family-owned companies especially those who have applied to be listed are currently at an advanced stage.
Emadi said that QSE has taken various initiatives to increase the number of listed companies by raising awareness of the benefits of listing on the exchange.
Besides holding seminars and workshops in association with our partners, he said, the exchange has also initiated one-to-one talks with the owners of family-owned companies to persuade them to go public. page 8
