Qatar Charity (QC) will organise various awareness activities, as part of its ongoing ‘Shams Deserves’ campaign, to educate people on the plight of displaced Syrians and refugees who are facing harsh winter conditions.
These include a joint live TV and radio broadcast on Friday and Saturday, February 28 and 29, by several media outlets.
The activities will be held at Katara and Doha Festival City with the aim of easing the hardship of the displaced and refugees by meeting their needs, raising awareness about their issues, and providing winter and relief aid for them.
The events will have an array of activities for children, allowing them and their parents to show solidarity with the displaced and refugees.
QC has urged people to contribute to the ‘Shams Deserves’ campaign to provide urgent relief aid to Syrian people in their country and the countries of asylum.
Launched by Qatar Media Corporation, and being implemented by QC under the supervision of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA), the ‘Shams Deserves’ campaign aims to deliver assistance to 250,000 Syrian refugees and displaced persons in the areas of shelter, food, water, sanitation and health.
A delegation from QC has recently distributed urgent aid to the displaced in Syria and Syrian refugees in Turkish areas. The aid included 200 tonnes of relief material worth over QR14 million for the benefit of 864,618 people. The delegation narrated the problematic conditions of displaced Syrians and refugees.
Another delegation is scheduled to depart on Friday to provide a second batch of aid to Syrian refugees.
