There are no reported cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Qatar and the risk to the public is low, the Government Communications Office (GCO) has said.
In a statement on Wednesday, the GCO said the Government of Qatar is taking all measures to protect the public and plan for eventualities.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is working closely with all local entities, the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international bodies to monitor the situation and provide up-to-date guidance, it added.
“Given the rapidly changing situation, it is important that the public refer regularly to official government communications on the matter. All official guidance and communications will be issued by the Ministry of Public Health and made available on its website,” the statement added.
The GCO said it encourages individuals to refer to official information and not to rely on or distribute unconfirmed or unofficial information, noting that the Ministry of Public Health provides regular updates on its website www.moph.gov.qa in multiple languages and via its social media channels, in addition to the 24/7 coronavirus hotline for information and updates: 66740948 or 66740951.
The GCO advised people travelling abroad to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for the latest travel advice at www.mofa.gov.qa.
