College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) and Community College of Qatar (CCQ) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will see the two post-secondary organisations work together on a number of projects and initiatives that will enhance academic and training programmes and research.
Both entities will maintain a steadfast commitment towards supporting Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
The MoU was signed by President of CNA-Q Dr Khalifa al Khalifa and CCQ President Dr Mohamed al Naemi at a ceremony attended by executives and leadership from both colleges. The agreement follows last year’s formation of a committee to develop academic integration between technical colleges in Qatar.
“I am pleased to be here today signing this important document. This is the next logical step in the progression of this college. I am excited about what this will mean for the future of both our fine institutions and all of our students,” said Dr Khalifa.
The MoU will allow the two colleges to conduct joint projects, allow for joint curriculum development and content, and secondment of faculty members.
Dr Naemi expressed his happiness at signing the memorandum of understanding.
He said, “The signing of today’s agreement comes as a confirmation of our continuous commitment to achieving academic excellence, as it will enhance academic and training cooperation between the two institutions by implementing programmes and joint research and projects and the encouragement of mutual scientific, research and training visits.”
He added, “In the interest of CCQ enhancing the integration between higher education institutions in the country by absorbing graduate diplomas in the Bachelor’s programmes offered by the College, the College also provides an opportunity for CNA-Q graduates to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.”
CNA-Q opened in 2002 after a world-wide search to bring the best technical and vocational training to Qatar in support of the booming energy and industry sector.
CNA-Q has graduated close to 6000 students from 30 certificate and diploma programs tailored to meet the needs of Qatar’s growing and changing economy, in the fields of: Business and Information Technology, Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades and Health Sciences. All programmes follow Canadian curriculum, are developed with input from local industry and business stakeholders, and are taught by international instructors with extensive industry experience.
