In a major step towards catering to the fast-growing housing market for nationals in Qatar, more than 120 firms and government entities are all set to display their products and services at the inaugural edition of Build Your House 2020 Exhibition.
According to a market data provided by Build Your House Exhibition, Qatar will spend $12 billion over five years to develop new housing for nationals.
Founded in Qatar and specially designed for the local market, the exhibition is aimed at assisting Qatari nationals understand the processes and procedures involved in building a personal residence.
To be held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al Thani, the first-of-its-kind exhibition will take place from March 2 to March 4 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) in Doha.
Organised by NeXTFairs, the exhibition will feature exhibitors who will introduce visitors to the latest technologies and materials used in building, architecture, and interior designs.
Addressing a press conference to provide details about the upcoming exhibition in Doha on Sunday, NeXTfairs Managing Director Rawad Sleem said, “Build Your House is a first-of-its-kind exhibition to be held in Qatar and its value and need in the market is validated by the tremendous response we have received from exhibitors, industry leaders and customers. The exhibition spaces are completed booked, which is a clear indication of the high demand for such events in Qatar’s housing sector.”
Right from the time when we planned to hold such an exhibition in Qatar, he said, “We have received great support from ministries and government entities. Qatar’s government has allocated a huge budget worth QR10 billion annually for the processing of lands for Qatari citizens with a total of 2,487 housing vouchers to be issued in 2020. This is aimed at achieving prosperity and social stability for citizens.”
“We feel this is the right time to host this high-profile exhibition that will pave the way for Qataris to get hold of best of solutions and a clear understanding of the processes involved in personal residence construction,” he said.
This comprehensive exhibition will create a platform for local SMEs as well to showcase and promote their services to the final and most praised consumer in Qatar, he said.
“The event will contribute in changing the local construction culture and create a better environment in the construction sector for Qatari nationals. The exhibition will be vital in ensuring better transparency among contractors, consultants and suppliers towards a healthy competition. Qatari attendees will have the opportunity to look up consultants, contractors and suppliers who match their project requirement, and also check for best quality and better prices,” he said.
“Our objective is based on delivering a clearer environment for Qataris to understand the construction process to perfectly achieve their project, as well as requirements for design and contracting, while always keeping close attention to work progress,” he said. The exhibition will act as an awareness campaign which will be very useful to explain the challenges that can face the individual during the stage of building the house and how to avoid them.
In addition, he said, the expo will be instrumental in helping Qatari nationals find the appropriate consultant and contractor and the mechanisms and conditions of obtaining the licenses and loans.
Highlighting that housing construction or renovation is not an easy process and it involves going through a lot of government procedures and involves much decision making, he said, “In addition to the exhibition, Build Your House 2020 will also have a wide range of free workshops and seminars which will offer information from laws and building processes to designs and latest trends.”
The workshops will be divided into popular themes inspired from what’s happening from around the world, making it more relevant and interesting. “More than 30 top-notch speakers will address the workshops to be organised by both private and public sector entities,” he said.
These seminars and workshops are aimed at providing Qatari nationals with latest information about modern technologies and building materials used in interior design, architecture and constriction.
“All these information will add great value for those planning to build a new house, renovate their existing houses or add to the current development. Participants will also get to explore new and smart methods to build or renovate their houses in cost-effective, modern, stylish ways. The expert speakers will share their experience and know-how to give participants the right advice, inspiration, ideas, and knowledge to their next projects,” Sleem said. “There is a lot of interest among Qatari nationals to take part in these seminars and workshops as we have witnessed a large number of them registering for their participation,” he said.
