Mora than 5,000 Indian community members have joined the Life Insurance Scheme launched by the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) in Doha, recently.
ICBF, the community welfare organisation working under the aegis of the Indian Embassy in Qatar, launched a Group Insurance scheme for Indian expatriates and their families back home in last December.
The initiative targeting more than half a million Indians in Qatar has been implemented under the scheme designed by Damaan Islamic Insurance Company –Bheema– in Qatar.
Indian community members aged between 18 and 65 years having Indian passport and Qatari Resident Permit (RP) are eligible to join the scheme.
A single-time premium of QR125 covers insurance worth QR100,000 in case of natural and accidental deaths. It also covers permanent or partial disability depending on the intensity of the disability.
Each policy holder will be required to renew the scheme every two years. The insurance amount will be paid within seven days after furnishing the required documents. If the policy holder dies in India, the money will be transferred to the nominee after submission of the required documents issued by the local authority in India and the Indian Embassy in Qatar.

KMCC President SAM Basheer said the forum will conduct campaigns for the scheme among all lower level bodies of KMCC and open a Help Desk at KMCC to enroll members to the scheme.
