Qatari investment in Jordanian stocks at the end of January, 2020 reached 737 million dinars, which is equivalent to $1billion.
In terms of ownership of securities by nationality, Qatari investments are ranked third among that from the Arab countries in the Jordanian Stock Exchange.
Statistics provided by Jordan’s Securities Depository Centre revealed that Qatari investors held 184,567 million financial paper at the end of January 2020.
It also showed that the number of Qatari investment contributions in securities ownership reached 384,000 contributions.
In January this year, Jordan agreed a new $1.3 billion programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and will receive a first instalment of $140 million by the end of March
Jordan will receive nine instalments of $140 million to $150 million over the four-year programme, Jordan’s finance minister Mohamad al-Ississ was quoted as saying. The allocations carry a 3 percent interest rate.
