The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani was briefed on Qatar’s strategy for research development and innovation on Thursday.
The strategy was prepared by Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council as part of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Amir saw a presentation on the strategy, during a visit to the council at Hamad Bin Khalifa University on Thursday, and its seven main themes related to innovation, business, research infrastructure, finance, government, legislation, and information systems.
“Today I looked at the state’s strategy in the field of research, development and innovation 2030, as it is one of the important pillars of the future economy of Qatar based on knowledge, diversification and innovation. During my visits to the research complex at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, I became acquainted with their research achievements that will inevitably contribute to community service and our development path through accumulation of knowledge and better transfer of experiences and modern technology,” the Amir said via an Instagram post.
The Amir was also briefed on the strategy’s executive plan as part of the second National Development Strategy 2018-2022.
The Amir toured Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s research centre at Qatar Foundation and listened to a brief overview of the roles of the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), Qatar Computing Research Institute, and Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), as well as the center’s current and future plans.
The Amir was accompanied by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al Thani, and a number of ministers.
