IN an endeavour to provide the students with a better understanding of the cultural, social, political and economic developments, and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards environment and other global concerns, the Social Science Department of DPS-MIS started an exhibition titled ‘Shristi-The Creation’ for classes VI to VIII recently.
In his address on the occasion, the chief guest, Rocky Fernandes, director of DPS-MIS, highlighted the critical role of social science in helping the students understand and work towards a more sustainable future. He also appreciated the arduous efforts of the students, teachers and the parents in putting up a grand show.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal MsAsnaNafees underscored the importance of such activities that promote experiential learning and encourage students to think sensibly. She commended the hard work and perseverance of the students, teachers and the parents and advised the students to remain well-informed about the current global concerns.
The students of Grade VI, Grade VII and Grade VIII presented a wide range of exhibits encompassing the historical, political, cultural, geographical and economic boundaries of not only India, but the entire world based on themes ‘Weave through the Ages’ and ‘Time, Continuity & change’; ‘The Mehrazi’ and ‘Explore the World’; and ‘Journey through the Decades’ and ‘Moving Forward Together ’ respectively.
The major attraction of the exhibition was the Qatar History Corner, featuring models of Al Zubarah Fort, Museum of Islamic Art, SouqWaqif, Hamad International Airport, Metro Rail and FIFA World Cup 2022. Around 350 models and 220 charts were displayed celebrating Qatar’s rich heritage. The event saw the attendance of a large number of parents.
