Washington: A Justice Department spokeswoman shot down rumours US Attorney General William Barr was eyeing resignation, as a news report suggested Barr was ready to quit over President Donald Trump’s tweets.
“The Attorney General has no plans to resign,” spokeswoman Kerri Kupec wrote on Twitter.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday, quoting three administration officials, that Barr told people close to Trump that he was considering resignation. It was not immediately clear if Barr communicated his position directly to Trump, the Post wrote, adding that administration officials indicated Barr “seemed to be sharing his position with advisers in hopes the president would get the message.” (DPA)
