The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani on Wednesday visited the site of the development of central Doha and Al Corniche Street project.
The project is being carried out by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).
“Today, I witnessed a presentation on the project to develop the central Doha region and increase green spaces in Qatar by 200 percent within the next two years, taking into account environment-friendly planning and its uses, as part of our vision to encourage healthy lifestyles and improve air quality in Qatar,” the Amir said via an Instagram post.
The Amir saw the designs and models of materials used in the development of roads and tunnels in central Doha as well as the main bike lanes and development work in the Corniche.
The Amir was also briefed by senior officials from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Ashghal on the new roads, their smart lighting system and new environment-friendly electrical control units, as well as how the new roads will portray the spirit and identity of central Doha, in addition to the vast walking and cycling areas they will provide.
The Amir was accompanied by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al Thani.
