THE Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) will host the 4th International Primary Health Care Conference Qatar 2020 at Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, from February 19 to 22.
Themed ‘A foundation set for significance’, the conference will cover topics including health promotion, disease prevention, integrated healthcare models, innovation and creativity in healthcare settings, quality, risk and safety, best practices in medical education and capacity building.
It will also facilitate exchange of experiences and expertise among participants through exhibitions and workshops.
Addressing a press conference, PHCC Managing Director Dr Mariam Abdul Malik said the conference will see presentation of 60 research papers on a wide range of subjects, with participation of health care experts from Europe, Africa, and Asia as well as from Qatar.
She said the event will also feature other topics such as communicable and non-communicable diseases, childhood and elderly diseases, mental health diseases, promotion and integration of health services and assessment studies of existing health care services.
According to Dr Abdul Malik, the conference is aimed at exploring the impact of effective leadership and governance in healthcare system; reviewing the development of clinical practices, updates and breakthroughs; discussing health promotion and disease prevention within the framework of primary care; exploring the development, reform and broader challenges faced when implementing an integrated model of health care; reflecting the PHCC’s commitment to innovations and creativity in health care settings; and raising the level of awareness and highlighting the importance of best practices in education, training and capacity building.
PHCC Executive Director of Clinical Affairs DrHananal Mujallisaid that the conference will bring together participants from Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon and Jordan. Participants from Qatar include those from PHCC, the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar University, Weill Cornell Medicine -Qatar, Sidra Medicine and University of Calgary.
According to him, there will be four workshops discussing topics related to medical practices and enhance the skills and ability of health care providers to work effectively in diverse communities.
“The international conference is an important platform for professional and scientific interaction and exchange of experiences among health care professionals. It will also contribute to the knowledge and expertise of primary health care professionals, in addition to improving coordination between primary, secondary and tertiary (specialized) care services.”
PHCC Assistant Managing Director -Administration and Corporate Services Musallam Mubarak al Nabit thanked HMC, Qatar University, Biobank and Qatar National Bank for the support.
