Goma: At least 30 people were killed when a truck crashed into several cars and motorcycles in Congo’s capital, Kinshasa, Radio Okapi reported on Sunday.
The construction vehicle, which was loaded with stones, caused the fatal crash at a busy intersection of Kinshasa when it drove into about eight other vehicles, a dozen motorcycles as well as pedestrians, according to the local radio station.
An unknown number of injured were taken to nearby hospitals, Radio Okapi said.
The cause of the accident remained unknown on Sunday, but according to witness reports, the truck’s brakes had failed.
Traffic accidents are common in Congo and often caused by poor road infrastructure, reckless driving and vehicles that are not roadworthy. (DPA)
