Qatar has witnessed great developments in the field of aviation security and air safety in the last couple of years, Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) HE Abdullah bin Nasser Turki al Subaie has said.
In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Subaie revealed that the authority increased aircraft routings and modernised devices and systems used in air navigation as part of its comprehensive development plan.
He added that the development plans that are underway will be ready by 2022 and Qatar will be able to accommodate air traffic during the country’s hosting of the tournament and beyond.
He stressed that the QCAA is working hard at all levels to develop civil aviation sector so that Qatar occupies top position globally in this field, noting that enhancing air navigation will greatly serve the World Cup.
Subaie pointed out that Qatar’s air safety regulations fully comply with the regulations of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the first body currently in the world for the application of civil aviation security standards, according to the Chicago Convention.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recently announced that Qatar was among 48 states that have made great progress in overcoming deficiencies in safety control and improving the effective implementation of international rules and recommendations related to the field, as it achieved a 91.16 percent compliance rate according to the new standards implemented by the ICAO in 2018.
