Warsaw: Poland’s largest opposition party, the centrist Civic Platform (PO), has elected a new leader.
The party’s standard-bearer against the governing conservatives will be Borys Budka, who is the head of its parliamentary caucus, PO said on its website on Saturday night, citing unofficial results.
Budka, a 41-year-old former justice minister, secured nearly 79 percent of the votes of over 8,200 party members, including the vote of Donald Tusk, the head of the European People’s Party in Brussels. (DPA)
