Ooredoo has renewed its sponsorship of the annual Al Galayel Championship for a seventh consecutive year, the telecom company announced.
Scheduled to be held from February 4 to 29, the regionally renowned championship is a hunting tournament that aims to test the traditional hunting skills of 25 teams through a series of contests. It takes place in the southern nature reserves of Qatar, an area offering the ideal conditions for hunters to put their abilities to the test.
As part of the support agreement, Ooredoo will provide a comprehensive suite of services to ensure all teams stay connected 24/7, even in the most remote parts of the Qatari desert.
The telecom operator will supply Tetra radio communications, Automatic Vehicle Location/Automatic People Location – dedicated map applications for logistics and operation centres to control and manage radio subscribers, groups and alarm centres – and the Tetra voice recording solution to log radio system calls, all designed to ensure teams remain safe and connected throughout the event.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Manar Khalifa al Muraikhi, director of PR and Corporate Communications at Ooredoo, said: “We place great emphasis on supporting events that promote and preserve our vibrant Qatari culture and we are delighted to be sponsoring this valuable event for another year.
“Traditional Qatari activities such as hunting remain an integral part of our cultural identity, and sponsoring community events such as the Al Galayel tournament fits perfectly with Ooredoo’s corporate social responsibility strategy and commitment to our community and country.”
