The DPS-Modern Indian School marked the 71st Republic Day of India with traditional fervour on Sunday. Patriotic fervour warmed up the cold windy morning as the President of DPS-MIS, Hassan Chougule, unfurled the tricolour.
It was followed by the entire DPS-MIS fraternity joining in the rendition of India’s national anthem to celebrate the spirit of unity. The enthusiastic tiny tots of Nursery sang a patriotic song. The auditorium reverberated with applause as the young choristers paid musical tribute to all the bravehearts who worked tirelessly to give India its sovereign, socialist and democratic republic status.
Chougule, who was also the chief guest at the event, spoke about the significance of the day and the contribution of the Indian diaspora towards the development of India and the world.
The school’s Principal, Asna Nafees, shared her views on the development of India in different fields and urged the students to reconnect to the past and develop the qualities of tolerance, sensitivity and respect for all cultures.
The programme was anchored by the Head Girl of Junior School Ziya Rasik and Head Boy of Junior School Aaryan Sujith. President of Student Council, Junior School, Imaad Hussain proposed the vote of thanks.
