Brazil no longer refusing foreign funds to protect Amazon rainforest

Berlin: Brazil is willing to accept foreign funding to protect the Amazon rainforest, Vice President Hamilton Mourao said on Thursday, backtracking on the country’s earlier refusal of such aid.
In August, far-right President Jair Bolsonaro’s government had refused 20 million dollars from G7 countries to help put out wildfires destroying large parts of the world’s biggest rainforest. (DPA)
