Qatar condemns armed attack in Burkina Faso, Chad
QATAR has condemned the armed attack on a market in northern Burkina Faso, which killed scores of civilians. Qatar has also expressed strong condemnation of the attack on the Lake Chad region, which resulted in civilian deaths and injuries. In a statement Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm position rejecting violence and terrorism, whatever the motives and reasons. The statement also expressed Qatar’s condolences to the victims’ families and to the government and people of Burkina Faso and Chad. (QNA)
Italian president leaves Doha
President of Italy Sergio Mattarella left Doha on Wednesday after a state visit to Qatar. The president and his accompanying delegation were seen off at Hamad International Airport by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad al Muraikhi, Ambassador of Qatar to Italy HE Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al Malki and Ambassador of Italy to Qatar HE Alessandro Prunas. Indian Embassy to mark
Republic Day on January 26
THE Indian Embassy in Qatar has invited community members to attend the 71st Republic Day event to be held on the embassy premises in Onaiza on January 26 (Sunday). The Ambassador of India to Qatar HE P Kumaran will unfurl the tricolour at 8am and read out Indian president’s address to the nation. Students of Indian schools will participate in the programme. Refreshments will also be served. (TNN)
