THE Stenden University students recently hosted an event titled ‘Glow in the Dark’, which encouraged differently-abled members of Best Buddies Qatar to build one-to-one friendship with Stendenvolunteers.
The event held as part of Stenden students’ Event Management module concluded on Tuesday with Best Buddies students with mild and moderate intellectual and development challenges presenting artworks created by them.
The ‘Glow in the dark’ event was based on a colour system. The organisers picked six different colours and linked them with words wherein blue stood for ‘trust’,pink for ‘playfulness’, purple for imagination, red for ‘love’, yellow for ‘friendship’ and green for ‘harmony’
The main idea behind this initiative was to actively involve students from Best Buddies Qatar in this creative exercise and provide them with the opportunity to “glow” with others.
The event was sponsored by Qatar Stock Exchange, Qatar Gassal, Tehnical Solutions for Events Qatar, Best Buddies Qatar and Stenden University Qatar.
Dr Ivan Ninov, executive dean, Stenden University of Applied Science Qatar, said: “We are very happy to be involved in this wonderful initiative, and to fully support the local community and the people in need. One of our main goals as a university is to educate and prepare socially responsible individuals, who can positively impact the overall development of society.”
Qatar Gassalin a statement said: “Gasal was honoured to sponsor’ Glow in the Dark’ event organised by Stenden University Students to engage and support Best Buddies students and create social awareness. It reflects Gasal’s strong commitment to nurturing and supporting those less fortunate and helping them flourish.”
