Qatar Chamber has announced the winners of the fourth edition of the “Best Innovative Ideas of Entrepreneurs 2019’ competition, held within the framework to support entrepreneurs “Ma’an”, launched by Qatar Chamber, Qatar University and Qatar Development Bank (QDB).
The ceremony was attended by QC Second Vice Chairman Rashid bin Hamad al Athba, President of Qatar University Hassan al Derham, Manager of Business Incubation at QDB Hamad al Qahtani.
The event was attended by QC board members, director-general, besides many leading businessmen and entrepreneurs among others.
The competition aims to foster innovation among
entrepreneurs.
The arbitration committee headed by QC board member Abdulrahman bin Abdulla al Ansari received 50 applications, the best five of which were qualified for the final evaluation stages.
The five winners are as follows: “Tawleefa”, which is specialised in producing alternative drinks to caffeine manufactured of natural herbs; “Instapreter”, an application for electronic interpretation in health facilities, hospitals and health centers; “Fursa”, a device fixed in hands of patients who are suffering from Parkinson’s disease to resist and absorb vibrations; “3yalna”, an application that streamlines connection between parents and students in schools through daily, weekly and annual reports; and “Baku Café”.
Addressing the ceremony, QC board member and Head of Trustee Council of “Ma’an”, Abdulrahman Abduljalil Abdulghani said the competition reflected the interest of Qatar and its institutions in innovation, noting that Qatar National Vision 2030 aims to build a diversified economy based on knowledge and innovation.
He also said that the tremendous technological advance urged governments to adopt policies that support innovation and entrepreneurship to increase productivity.
Abdulghani stressed the importance of innovation in business community, noting that it has become an important tool that helps companies to succeed and develop in the future.
He called upon businessmen to help entrepreneurs and encourage their innovative ideas, affirming that this would achieve QNV 2030 objectives aiming at achieving the human development and economic diversification.
Underlining the importance of “Ma’an” initiative, he said it was launched three years ago by Qatar Chamber, QDB and Qatar University with the aim to offer support for entrepreneurs through specialized training courses, incubators, competitions and awards and promotion.
