Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) welcomed two student groups from Qatar Academy at its ‘Professional Day as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility to provide qualitative improvement in education sector.
Qatar Academy students visited different departments of the bank where they gathered adequate information and details from officers about its operations such as customer service, information technology, accounts, cheques, debit and credit cards and alternative channels, which are the newest banking trends.
The students observed how the operations are being conducted, particularly at the bank hall, the VIP customer section and the Information Technology Department.
QIIB’s Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed al Shaibei personally met the students.
He was accompanied by Deputy CEO Jamal al Jamal and Chief of Human Resources and Administration Ali Hamad al Mesaifri.
The CEO said, “The bank is proud to support educational institutions that are the real wealth to count on since human resources are the most beneficial investment as laid out by Qatar National Vision 2030, which is witnessing great progress. The vision 2030 aims to transform Qatar into an advanced society capable of achieving sustainable development by the year 2030.”
After briefing the students about the history of Islamic banking, Dr Shaibei said, “The importance of study, diligence and benefiting from the experiences of teachers to achieve success and reach what we aspire to in our professional life to serve our society and our country must be deeply understood.”
He added, “The practical activities carried out by students during the various stages of their academic life are among the most valuable experiences. Therefore, we invite our students to benefit from their visit to QIIB and ask all the questions they have about Islamic banking, banking services and other related matters, as practical experiences generally provide knowledge that remains in the memory for a long time and is more likely to affect their practical and professional future options.”
During the tour, the students also met with Zakaria Glaoui, head of Personal Banking, Omar Abdulaziz al Meer, head of Business Development, Hesham Mohamadin, head Information Security Officer, Yousef El-Maraghi, head of Private Banking & Wealth Management, and Maher al Kayyali, branch manager, Grand Hamad Street.
A detailed discussion session was held with students on banking operations, techniques and mechanisms, requirements and qualifications that must be available in employees who want to work in banks, Islamic and conventional banking, professional life and students’ choices and preferences in terms of specialisations taught in different universities.
At the end of their visit, students and their accompanying supervisors thanked QIIB for hosting the professional day on an annual basis, which confirms the bank’s support to education.
