All types of post-bariatric surgeries are performed at the Al Emadi Hospital including Abdominoplasty, Extended Abdominoplasty and Circular Body Lift, Dr. Drazan Eric, a plastic and reconstructive consultant at the hospital, said.
Talking to Qatar Tribune, Dr. Drazan said that within a period of six months to one year, a patient loses weight which causes excess skin and fat in some parts of the body. That’s when a plastic surgery may be required as a next step, to get the person into good shape and remove the extra skin and fat from the body, he explained.
“We perform the Circular Body Lift, also known as a 360 Body Lift. We work on excising of the extra skin and fat from the whole body, lower abdomen, lower back, and flanks,” he said.
“When it’s not possible to fix the problem with simple Abdominoplasty, we perform a 360 Body Lift.
“We have to do the Circular Body Lift or the Interior Body Lift to get the good shape of the anterior abdomen.
“Besides the loosened skin on the abdomen after bariatric surgeries, most patients require buttocks enhancement. However, it’s important to note that we can only perform buttock lift within a 360 Body Lift,” he noted, adding: “It’s a huge surgery. It takes up to four to five hours, because it’s required to change the patient’s position on the table.”
Liposuction and Lipofilling:
Elaborating further, Dr. Drazan said many of their patients for Liposuction and Lipofilling ask them to help fix deformities and scars caused by previous surgeries, on the face of the breast or the legs and the arms.
The procedure comprises mainly the use of the abdomen or the arms fat and the surrounding areas to get the good shape.
“We also have many experienced surgeons at Al Emadi who perform the popular Brazilian butt lift. For this, the patient should have a good shape of the abdomen so we can take the fat from the abdomen, arms or legs and transfer it onto the buttocks for the desired shape.”
Otoplasty, Blepharoplasty and Rhinoplasty are also performed at the Al Emadi Hospital.
Gynecomastia

“One of the most popular surgeries at Al Emadi, and it comprises around 20% of our patients, is some patients having small Gynecomastia so we can work only with Liposuction. However, sometimes, especially aftert bariatric surgeries, we have the patient with saggy skin and a lot of extra fat. In such cases we cannot just perform Liposuction because we also have to remove the skin in combination with liposuction,” he explained.
Hair Transplantation:
The hospital started hair transplantation at Al Emadi in September and uses modern techniques.
The latest technique is the follicular unit extraction. It’s different from the older technique called follicular unit transplantation where removing the strip of the skin and the hair follicle is required, causing scars to the patient.
“The new technique we currently use, (the follicular unit extraction) taking one by one follicle to work with, it’s a longer process but it offers quicker patient recovery time and significantly lower post-operative discomfort than follicular unit transplantation,” he said.
“We have four to five patients on the waiting list for hair transplantation, including for beard transplantation. It’s also worth noting that hair transplantation is also possible for the eyebrows and eyelashes.”
The procedure usually takes four to eight hours. It depends of the number of hair follicles, 500 to 600 follicles take about four hours, a 1,000 can take up to seven to eight hours.
The mega session, however is a bigger package that could take up to two days.
The success rate for follicular unit extraction is about 95%, but the results are not immediate, and a minimum of nine months is required to start noticing the hair transplantation results.2 clinics:
