The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement with Qatar Charity (QC) to support productive families during an exhibition for their products that will take place in Katara from December 14 to December 17.
A total of 76 families are taking part. There will be two categories - one for the families and another for products.
The total prize money for the two awards will be QR600,000. In all, 33 families and their products will be competing for the top three places.
The competing projects undergo an evaluation process by a specialised jury that includes experts from several relevant bodies such as the Ministry of Administrative Development and Labour and Social Affairs, Ministry Commerce and Industry, Qatar Chamber, Qatar Foundation for Social Work and Qatar Development Bank.
The winners will be announced on Sunday.
Speaking at a press conference to discuss the award, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Ghanem Mubarak al Kuwari thanked Qatar Charity for its support in organising the award.
He noted that Qatar Charity has consistently supported the ministry’s initiatives.
He stressed the ministry’s commitment to supporting productive families and promoting their products through local and international exhibitions, and launching strategies that support their craft through marketing, training and financing opportunities to achieve the growth and spread of the crafts.
For his part, QC CEO Youssef Ahmed al Kuwari said the QC is a long-term partner to the ministry in empowering productive families.
