The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) has held a meeting with Ian Halliday, General Manager of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission for the Middle East and Africa.
The meeting on Wednesday was also attended by HE Jonathan Muir, Australian Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
The meeting comes on the sideline of Ian’s visit to Doha to promote investment projects, discuss potential cooperation opportunities and ways to enhance economic relations.
From the QBA side, the meeting was attended by Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al Thani; board members Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al Thani, Sherida al Kaabi, Saud al Mana; members Moataz al Khayat, Mohamed Althaf, Ihsan al Khiaymi; and deputy general manager Sarah Abdullah.
Sheikh Nawaf said the meeting aims at discussing ways of trade and investment cooperation, expressing its importance in opening bridges of communication and developing relations between the two countries.
He also spoke about the interest of Qatari businessmen in identifying business opportunities available in Australia.
Jonathan said Ian’s visit aims at enhancing mutual cooperation. He also highlighted some of the investment opportunities offered by Australia, especially in the food sector.
During the meeting, Ian spoke about Australia as a country rich in animal resources due to the spread of pastures in large areas of the country and the large number of people working in grazing and shearing wool.
“The country’s central plains are famous for being one of the largest regions in the world in sheep breeding.”
He said Australia produces meat, dairy, leather, and wool in huge quantities and exports them abroad.
