Panama and Qatar have shared diplomatic ties for 18 years and they enjoy a relationship of deep friendship and cooperation. However, the ties between the two countries go much deeper, and for a very long time, with their roles as transit zones where multiple cultures converge, the Ambassador of Panama to Qatar HE Mousa Abdelhae Asvat Kasu has said.
The Panama envoy was speaking at a function on the embassy premises recently to celebrate the 198th Independence Day of his country. Those present on the occasion included HE Ambassador Ibrahim Fakhroo, Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; HE Ambassador Essa bin Mohammad Al Mannai, Director of American Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; diplomats from Latin American and Caribbean countries; guests and members of the Panama community.
The Panama ambassador paid his gratitude to the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for the remarks made by HH the Amir during his meeting at the credentials presentation, where HH the Amir pointed to the similarities between Qatar and Panama, which include demography, sustained economic growth, and their role as bridges of geographical connection in the respective regions.
The Panama envoy invited Qatari investors to study the possibilities of investments in his country as, “Latin America is a blessed region with a lot of potential for investment and development. There are challenges to overcome but we’ll find a way to solve them by dialogue, consensus and harmony that characterize us”.
The envoy added: “The bilateral and multilateral relations between the countries of Latin America and the State of Qatar will be further strengthened as we work together as a region. We can consolidate bridges between the two regions, whereby excellent level of dialogue between our countries will continue to grow for the mutual benefit of our peoples.”
The ambassador also thanked talented Panamanian photographer Agust?n C?nclaves for exhibiting his collections at the Katara Cultural Village titled ‘Panama and Time, 500 Years Joining Worlds’, which, he noted, “in addition to making reference to the fact that together we can overcome multiple obstacles, it also transports us in time to know the historical evolution in the development of Panama and the region”.
