The Qatar Stars League (QSL) held a meeting with coaches of QNB Stars League clubs, under the slogan One Team, One Goal, with the aim of becoming the best league in Asia.
During the meeting, all opinions as well as proposals and the coaches’ observations and views on some technical matters were discussed. This is being done to benefit from their great experiences in the ongoing development of Qatar football, in line with the technical and professional work to reach the best levels, as some of them participated in the World Cup and UEFA Champions League, as players or coaches.
The participants expressed their happiness and sounded optimistic about the ability to reach common goals and ambitions.
On the sidelines of the meeting, an exhibition match was organised with the participation of a number of club coaches and former stars of Qatar football, in addition to Algerian national team coach Djamel Belmadi and Argentinian star and Inter Milan Vice-President Javier Zanetti.
The meeting was held at the Aspire Zone Football Development Department headquarters, in the presence of QSL CEO Hani Taleb Ballan, Executive Director of Competitions and Football Development Ahmed Khellil Abbassi, Acting Director of Football Development Miguel Heitor and Head of Competitions Maksat Glychmamedov. Qatar Football Association’s Football Development Department Director Fahad Thani al Zaraa and Referees’ Committee representative Abdullah al Balooshi were also present.
Qatar h’ball team trains
for Asian championship
The Qatari handball team continues its preparation for the upcoming Asian championship, set to take place in Kuwait from January 16-27. The competition also acts as a qualifier to the World Cup which will take place in Egypt in 2021.
There are currently 19 players in the training camp, representing Al Duhail, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Al Ahli, Al Arabi, Al Wakra, Qatar and Al Khor clubs. Al Arabi have the most number players in the national camp with four.
The team will play a friendly match with Iran before leaving to Croatia to take part in a friendly tournament, which is scheduled from January 2 to January 7. Qatar are in Group B of the Asian championships alongside Japan and China. They begin their campaign on January 16 against China.
