On the occasion of the school’s 10th anniversary, The Next Generation (TNG) School hosted the Sixth Education Award.
With this award, the management of the school appreciates the efforts of the organisations that are contributing positively in the education sector by playing an active role in raising awareness of important issues.
Several organisations were nominated and invited by the school to receive the award. The award recipients were the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, Juvenile Police Department, the Ministry of Interior, Qatar Business Incubation Center, Bedaya, Qatar Diabetes Association, Sidra Medicine, Qatar Cancer Society, and Baladna.
The chief guest for the event, Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh bin Khalifa al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and chief patron for the event Dr Hamda Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Secretary General, Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, presented the awards.
Community Welfare Attaché at the Pakistan embassy Hafiz Junaid Amir Sial also attended the event.
Director General of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Dr Khaled Bin Mohammad Bin Ghanem Al Thani, was presented with the award on behalf of the ministry. The ministry was nominated for the award for establishing the First Ihsan School in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Education Above All to provide education to underprivileged non-Arab students. The ministry also works tirelessly in organising educational awareness programmes to introduce the Islamic culture and Qatari architecture to the residents and visitors of Qatar.
The Juvenile Police Department was nominated for the award as it raises awareness among youth about juvenile delinquency and the dangers of negative behaviour. They do this through educational lectures, exhibitions, conferences and workshops. They also raise awareness among parents of youth delinquency as part of their Safe Summer campaign.
To receive the Education Award, the Juvenile Police Department of the Ministry of Interior was represented by Hussein Qasim Askar, 1st Warrant Officer, In charge Awareness and Exhibition.
Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC) received the award for their programmes to empower young entrepreneurs by developing their businesses, incubating their ideas, investing in their companies and connecting them to customers and investors. QBIC was represented by Majed Al Khulaifi, Head of Incubation.
Bedaya was also among the organisations nominated to receive the award this year. Bedaya supports young entrepreneurs through educational workshops, mentoring programmes and promotional support for their initiatives. It also organises the Business Enterprise Challenge, University Workshops and Summer Bootcamps for students and young entrepreneurs to support their journey. Ahmad Al Saygh, Entrepreneurship Manager, received the award on behalf of Bedaya.
Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA) was nominated for raising awareness of diabetes and organising programmes and initiatives to help prevent the disease. QDA also manages a programme to ensure that the rights of students with diabetes are met and they get equal opportunities to succeed in school. Mohammad El Hassan, Care Programme Specialist, received the award.
Sidra Medicine rigorously raises awareness about the dangers of poisoning and its preventive measures via school-based art competitions. It also conducts epilepsy workshops for school nurses and promotes scientific research. Dr Khalid Al Yafie, Chief Medical Informatics Officer
received the award.
Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) was also part of TNG’s Education Award nominee list. QCS relentlessly raises awareness of timely detection of breast cancer and prevention via educational activities. Ammar Al Mashhadani, Head of Public Relations Department, received the award.
Baladna also received the award. Among other things, Baladna sponsored the Educational Conference of 2019 and created the Baladna Awareness Park that allows students to enjoy fun educational activities.
