M Pallonji emerged the proud winners of the First Division in the third Gulf Lights Cricket Tournament after they pulled off a facile six-wicket triumph against CCRC in the final at the Losail Cricket Complex.
The decision of CCRC, who got just 100 all out in 19.2 overs, to bat first after winning the toss did not go well. They lost their top four players for just 27 runs in six overs. Muzammil and Gul steadied them a bit with a fine stand. Both hit 27 each, taking the total to 55 for four in 10 overs.
The two players were split at this stage and M Pallonji hit back to wrap up their innings at 100. Edrick and Efaz grabbed three scalps each and Dikshit dismissed two players.
M Pallonji began well and kept building their innings solidly and secured the triumph in the 15th over at the expense of five players. Rauf compiled 25 runs and captain Neeraj added 19. Omar and Gul shared four wickets.
Edrick of M Pallonji was declared the man of the match.
Seema Mubin, Technical Director of Gulf Lights, guests of honour Dr Mubin of PHCC and Master Abid of Gems Wellington School presented the awards and trophies. There was a lucky draw for spectators as well.Special awardsThe following were adjudged the best in different categories of the tournament:
Best batsman: Muzammil of CCRC
Best bowler: Omar of CCRC
Best all-rounder: Razik of M Pallonji
Best wicket-keeper: Neeraj of M Pallonji
