Wolf attacks on farm animals on the rise in Germany

Berlin: Sheep are the main victims of attacks by wolves in Germany, which have shown a significant increase in recent years as numbers of the once-rare predators rise, government figures showed on Thursday.
According to a report from the official documentation and advice office on wolves (DBBW), there were 639 reported attacks resulting in 2,067 animals killed, injured or missing over the course of 2018.
Sheep were the victims in 1,656 cases. The 2017 report found 472 attacks affecting 1,667 farm animals, implying an annual rise in the number of incidents of some 35 per cent. (DPA)
