QATAR and Kazakhstan share close brotherly ties, which have got further strengthened with the recent signing of an air services agreement between the two countries and the recent decree of the Kazakh government on the exemption of Qatari citizens from visa requirements, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Askar Shokybayev has said.
Speaking at a reception hosted by him on the occasion of Kazakhstan’s National Day, the ambassador said that according to the air services agreement, Qatar Airways will soon begin regular flights to the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty.
Prominent among the dignitaries who attended the reception were Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs HE Yousuf Mohamed al Othman Fakhroo; Minister of State HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al Kuwari; Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al Hammadi; Ambassador HE Ibrahim Fakhroo, Director Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; as well as diplomats and guests.
The Kazakh ambassador said that Qatar recognised the independence of Kazakhstan, established diplomatic relations, and has been supporting the country’s initiatives in different fields such as economy, trade, politics and culture all through these years.
Talking about his country’s achievements, he said that having gained independence 28 years ago, Kazakhstan has today emerged as a dynamic, strong, stable and wealthy state respected internationally.
The reception also featured a cake-cutting ceremony followed by a mesmerising performance by famous Kazak musical troupe Marcel Live Group. The group was especially invited to perform in Doha.
