Juba: At least 29 people were killed in South Sudan on Thursday when two rival clans clashed over ownership of an island in the Nile river, the coordinator for the area told DPA.
The early-morning clash also left nearly 20 people injured, Joseph Deng Mawaat said. The clans involved stem from the states of Eastern Lakes and Jonglei.
Both claim ownership of the island, which is strategic as a docking site for boats.
