THE Minister President of Lower Saxony in the Federal Republic of Germany Stephan Weil has described Qatar as a reliable and very important partner of Germany, praising Qatar’s commitment to foreign investments.
In an interview with the Qatari newspaper Al-Raya on the sidelines of the Qatari-German Business Meeting held in Doha two days ago, Stephan Weil said his visit to Doha aims to discuss ways of enhancing and expanding close cooperation between the Qatari and German sides in different fields, especially infrastructure, renewable energy, and electric cars industry.
“It’s important to have a reliable partner like Qatar, because the stability of the partnership is a key issue in economic relations,” he said, pointing out that Qatar’s economy is advanced and ever-growing.
The minister president noted the remarkable progress and impressive achievements made by Qatar in a short period of time after his first visit to Doha four years ago. He also expressed admiration for Qatar’s achievements in a short time, adding that there are important projects in Lower Saxony that may be of interest to Qatar, especially as they are very relevant to the strengthening and diversification of the Qatari economy.
He said talks are going on with Qatar Airways to launch direct flights between Doha and Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, which is the second largest state in Germany with a population of 8 million and GDP of $330 billion.
