The FIFA Club World Cup Winner’s Trophy was on display at the Museum of Islamic Arts in Doha on Tuesday as Qatar continues its preparations to host the zenith of the World Football Club in December.
Community leaders dressed in their national costumes and outfits had their photos taken with the prize, which was the centerpiece of a special event. The event was attended by representatives from Nigeria, Brazil, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Uganda, Pakistan, Ghana, Egypt, Russia, Nepal, South Korea, and Kenya.
The event was coordinated as part of the community activation activities for the tournament by the Community Engagement Department of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.
Several community leaders said they were proud and delighted that they were chosen to host one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. The Nigerian leader said that the event on Tuesday marks a symbolic moment in the countdown to welcome each of the six confederations ‘ champions.
The Brazilian community leader said the tournament will also provide another momentous moment for the Qatari public on the road to 2022, as fans from all over the world will be inviting thousands of club fans to watch the games taking place here for the first time. Most of the leaders agreed that the competition will be a taste of what to expect in 2022–and a great opportunity for the world to see what it will be like in just three years’ time.
Tuesday’s event is a lead up to activities involving the FIFA Club World CupTM Winner’s Trophy, which will feature at various landmarks across the country, including Aspire Park, numerous malls, hotels and embassies.
The FIFA Club World Cup 2019 presented by Alibaba Cloud will kick off on 11 December and conclude on 21 December. The full match schedule is available on FIFA.com.
Along with Al Sadd SC and Hienghène Sport, five other teams will compete for the title: Flamengo, Liverpool, CF Monterrey, ES Tunis and Al Hilal.
