Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) participated in a ceremony organised by the Somali government to inaugurate the QFFD-funded rehabilitated Diplomatic Institute at the Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The ceremony was attended by Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ahmed Eissa Awad and Ambassador of Qatar to Somalia HE Hassan bin Hamza Hashim, as well as ministers, parliamentarians and ambassadors in Somalia.
Awad praised the Qatari government’s support to Somalia, pointing out that the opening of the institute represents a qualitative addition to Somali diplomatic activity through the training of diplomatic cadres at the ministry in cooperation with other countries.
The renovation works included the rehabilitation of the entire building from the facades, the halls’ units and interior, improvement of the infrastructure of the project as well as extension of public and private facilities of the project, including the rehabilitation of the Prime Minister’s Building, the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development and the Mogadishu Municipality building.
QFFD is currently implementing a range of different development projects in Somalia, where the work is underway on the construction of the 90-kilometre Mogadishu-Jowhar road and the 22-kilometre Mogadishu Afgoye road.
