Qatar Chamber (QC) on Tuesday hosted a workshop on the import system for re-export.
QC said in a statement that the workshop aims to inform the private sector about the mechanisms of the import for re-export, and to encourage Qatari importing companies to join the new system.
The workshop, organised by the General Authority of Customs (GAC), in which specialists from the customs affairs department, in the presence of representatives of the vehicles, equipment and machinery sector, spoke about the advantages of the import regime for re-export, the procedures for submitting, the conditions and controls, and the most important items to which the system applies.
The import system for the purpose of re-export facilitates the importation of goods into the state for the purpose of re-exporting or exporting part thereof without paying the customs duties prescribed therein, provided that the period of stay in the state does not exceed six months from the date of its release from the customs department in accordance with certain banking regulations, conditions and guarantees.
QC said it will host three more workshops over the next three weeks to familiarise more business owners and company representatives with the new system, particularly in the construction and infrastructure sectors, the electrical appliances sector, jewellery and precious watches.
