Kuwait CITY: Kuwaiti Emir Sabah al-Ahmed Al Sabah named a new prime minister on Tuesday, after the former premier rejected his re-appointment amid a feud between ministers, who are members of the royal family, over alleged misuse of military funds.
The emir appointed Sabah Khaled al-Hamad Al Sabah as the new prime minister and tasked him with forming a cabinet, the official KUNA news agency reported.
On Monday, former prime minister Jaber Mubarak Al Sabah declined an offer by the emir to attempt forming a new government to replace his cabinet, which resigned on Thursday amid calls by lawmakers to hold no-confidence votes in individual ministers, including former interior minister Khaled al-Jarrah Al Sabah.
